Additional Info from GA District Director
The Chapter of the Year Award and Honorable Mention Awards were created to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts and performance of local chapter leaders and members. The growth and continued success of GWRRA is dependent on the thoughtful planning and implementation of important local initiatives.
All "charter paid" GWRRA chapters worldwide are eligible to participate in the 2007 GWRRA Chapter of the Year Award and Honorable Mention Awards, providing the qualifications have been met.
Each District shall select a Chapter of the Year that demonstrates the greatest combined achievement in the below listed criteria – point category.
Each Region will select one outstanding Chapter that will be compared to other Region chapters at Wing Ding 2008.
The Chapter of the Year Award will be presented to one regional chapter that demonstrates the greatest combined achievement in the criteria listed below.
Criteria - Qualifications
Each chapter will be eligible for this prestigious award, providing the chapter has met the basic qualifications and has paid the annual charter fee.
Criteria – Point Categories
The District Directors and District Chapter of the Year Coordinator will determine if the chapter has met the basic qualifications above and shall select the most outstanding chapter based upon the below listed categories.
It is suggested the Chapter Rider Educator track this information and submit the results to the Chapter Director.
To be determined later.

Here are two links to the Chapter Of the Year Program. Please read the criteria and then look at the score sheet. You can fill out your submission on the score sheet or in paragraph form if you like. Some things we learned by scoring this year’s submissions are:
http://www.gwrra.org/oconnect/documents/coty_programinfo.pdf
Also here is some information I received from the former Region A Membership Enhancement Coordinators that may help in preparing your submission:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Chapter Staff positions: You should be assured the chapter has the required positions filled. Completion of the Score sheet is adequate proof.
Newsletters to Members: Completion of the Score Sheet is adequate. Monthly meetings / gatherings: Completion of the Score Sheet is adequate.
Annual Financial Report: Completion of the Score Sheet is adequate.
Annual Chartering Fee: Completion of the Score Sheet is adequate.
A minimum of 3 new members: Early in January, each Regional will be able answer this question (yes or no). It will be helpful if you list the names of your new members. This category has nothing to do with Chapter Growth.
ADDITIONAL POINT CATEGORIES
Annual Event Schedule: A copy of the Chapter's calendar of events or a list of the events will be adequate along with your point value.
Chapter Membership (Recruitment/Retention): In January, Phoenix will be submitting a report to each Regional that will reflect the headcount per chapter on January 1, 2007 vs. December 31, 2007.
Chapter planned recruiting activity: List them on the Score Sheet and use additional paper if needed.
Chapter Action Plan for retention of members: A copy of the plan would be appreciated.
Rider Education Levels Program: The Rider Ed database / report from Mark Zingery's staff will be available in January.
The Chapter Selects a Couple of the Year for 2007: Score Sheet answer is adequate. Please insert the COY's name in the box.
The Chapter Director attended the following Leadership Training programs: On the Score Sheet, please list those programs. If the Chapter Director does not have a LTD Training Record, a Certificate of Completion will be adequate.
The Chapter has an approved Website: Score Sheet answer is adequate along with the URL or address of the website indicated in the box.
List the extraordinary events or activity the Chapter was responsible for: List all those on the Score Sheet and use additional paper if necessary.
Now, if you have gotten through all this, and you are still interested in submitting for this award, there is something I need to clarify. You must send me a list of your annual Event Ride schedule by the end of February. The deadline was 31 January 2008, but since I am confused about this, I failed to let you know what you had to submit before the deadline. You do not need to send a monthly calendar, it can just be a list that identifies your ride schedule. Include your recruiting events and Extraordinary Events. I have received information from the Region A Director and he agrees that events will change. They will get cancelled, or you may do more events than you have listed. If that is the case, I would guess we could adjust at the end of the year. The point is that I need a “dream list” of your rides and events by 29 February 2008. Don’t forget to list your recruiting events on the ride/event schedule. You do not have to list them as recruiting event or Significant Event, and you do not have to know the exact date of the event, but list the month.
I am learning along with you on this program so if you have any questions, please give me a call. Sid and Donna Cohen will be the Chapter Of the Year Coordinators, so they will also be a source of information.
Thanks,
Bill Livingston
