A Small Item On Your Tires, Could Become A Large (and unwelcome) Item On the Highways . . .

I know we have talked about tread depth and wear and tear on our tires. We have also discussed (many times) on front and rear tire pressures and the necessity for replacing the valve core stem when installing new tires. But the one thing we have not really talked about, is the valve core stem holder. What’s that? “That” is the little plastic holder that keeps the valve core stem from whipping back and forth from centrifugal forces when the tire is rotating.

Without the plastic holder, the valve core stem will flex until it leaks and worst of all, break. That is not a pleasant feeling at any highway speed, especially 55 mph or better! When you check your tire pressure, check and make sure the stem holder is there, and not broken or missing. If it is, the Honda part number for the plastic stem holder is 42754-MNS-000. Your local Honda dealers should have them on hand and if not, they can order one if you wish. So, ride, be safe and above all, have fun.

And, as always, always be watchful for the unwatchful . . . .
